FAQS

Taking the first step toward counseling can feel overwhelming, and it's natural to have questions. We've gathered answers to some of the most common questions we receive to help you feel more comfortable and informed as you begin your journey. If there's anything else you'd like to know, we're always here to help.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, your personal history, and any concerns or questions you may have. It’s also a chance for you to determine whether I feel like a good fit for your needs.

My work is strengths-based and solution-focused. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trauma Art Narrative Therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness techniques, and other evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs.

Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, stressed, experiencing a life transition, struggling in relationships, or simply looking for support and personal growth. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.

Yes, I offer a secure HIPAA protected platform for telehealth sessions, allowing clients to attend therapy from the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Please contact me to discuss availability and location requirements.

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, needs, and circumstances. Some clients benefit from short-term, solution-focused work, while others choose longer-term support. We will regularly review your progress together.

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. As progress is made, some choose to transition to biweekly or monthly appointments. We will determine a schedule that best supports your goals.

Yes. I have experience working with children and adolescents and collaborate with parents when appropriate to support growth and positive change.

Absolutely. Anxiety is one of the most common concerns people bring to therapy. Together, we can identify triggers, develop coping strategies, build resilience, and create practical tools to manage anxiety more effectively.

Many people feel nervous about starting therapy. That’s completely understandable. My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing at your own pace.

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. Information shared in sessions is kept private except in specific situations required by law, such as concerns about safety, abuse, or court orders. We will review confidentiality in detail during our first meeting.

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. I encourage you to ask questions and share your concerns. If we determine another provider may be a better fit, I am happy to help with referrals.
